My great-grandfather ran a bakery in Kilmarnock before moving to Ayr.

My grandfather is colloquially remembered as "old papa with the missing finger".  It wasn't until I was trying to locate the bakery that it dawned on me that the story of him losing his index finger when the horses bolted and the reigns severed the finger - was actually when he was delivering his father's baking to customers with a horse drawn cart!
